PS2 Movie
Mani Ratnam and Subaskaran Allirajah produced the movie under the banner of Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. The movie has two parts, PS1 and PS2, based on a 1955 novel by Ponniyin Selvan. The film showcases several strong historical characters played by famous actors like Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, and others. PS 1 was released on September 30, 2022, in regular and IMAX formats.
It garnered positive reviews from critics who commended the film’s director, cast performances, musical score, visuals, and fidelity to the source material. The movie broke several records at the box office, earning more than 500 crores (US$63 million).
PS2 Release Date
It is now the fourth-highest-grossing Tamil film of all time and the 15th-highest-grossing Indian movie of all time. Now the producers are planning to release PS 2 soon, with this second part, the story of Ponniyin Selvan, expected to be completed.
PS 2 Shooting
The second part of PS was declared long ago. Now Lyca Productions have shared a Tweet stating that the Cholas are back. A short video accompanied the tweet to introduce PS 2. The movie will be released on April 28, 2023, as informed by the trailer. The audience liked the historical drama, and the excitement for the second part increased among the audience post the launch of the video. It was said that Ponniyin Selvan 2 was being shot concurrently with part 1.
As reported in the news, the sequel to Ponniyin Selvan and the portion was finished in 150 days. The majority of the movie was filmed in Tamil Nadu, India, although there were also some scenes filmed in Thailand. A few scenes were filmed at Orchha, Gwalior, Pondicherry, Mysore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, MP, and other stunning Indian sites. Ponniyin Selvan was made up of a huge budget of Rs 500 crore.

The official trailer of the movie was released in January 2023. Online viewing is also an option. It can be found on YouTube. It provides an early look at Ponniyin Selvan 2. Aishwarya’s reflection in a mirror may be seen in the trailer. From where the first half left off, the movie’s topic and drama are continued in the second. Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada versions of The Ponniyin Selvan 2 will also be available.
PS 2 Storyline
The baseline story of PS 1 revolves around the story of Chola Kings. To deliver a letter from the crown prince Aditha Karikalan, Vandiyathevan travels throughout the Chola territory. On the other hand, Kundavai tries to establish political peace as vassals and minor chieftains scheme against the throne.
The movie’s second half promises plenty of surprises and suspense for those who have seen the first part of Ponniyin Selvan. A significant character in the following chapter is Poonkuzhali’s aunt Mandakini, a stupid queen. Mandakini repeatedly rescues Arunmozhi. Adhitha Karikalan ultimately arrives at the Kadambur fort. When being rescued from the Pandya war in the sea, Mandakini becomes pregnant with Veerapandian. Veerapandian’s children are Madhuranthakan and Padmini.
The protagonist, Padmini, will seek retribution from the assassins of her father, Veerapandian, the Pandya dynasty king, in the main narrative. In the end, a turn of events results in Uthama Chozhan becoming the king.
PS 2 Starcast
The star cast is expected to be the same as PS1 to do justice to the plot.
